Marcello Mercado

Born in 1963, he is German - Italian and Argentinean visual artist. He lives and works in Köln, Germany. His work is interdisciplinary (paintings, VideoArt, bioArt, objects, installations, robotics and SoundArt). Mercado´s work is based on a relationship between biology, technology and art. He received the Grant at the Edith Russ Haus Media Arts Centre. Also, he did a fellowship at The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation and The Lampadia Foundation. A post-production residence at Centre International u Creation Vidéo, Pierre Schaeffer in France.

Techniques are used as optical devices that do shape another view on the phenomena to express. If could the images-commodities themselves speak, they would say: "What does belong to us as objects is our Value. Our natural intercourse as commodities proves it.  In the eyes of each other we are nothing but exchange-values." The images are related with reconstructed models in 3D, tunnels, vegetables-loops, and centrifugal architectures.
