Reading the other: Thought on Collaboration

Collective Drawing is Z'otz* primary means of expression and is used to visually respond to each other and to what surrounds them. The direct approach allows the group to create quirky and often outrageous images that examine, with humour, the immigrant experiences of displacement, transition and transformation.

Nahúm Flores, Erik Jerezano, and Ilyana Martínez are Z’otz* Collective, formed in Toronto in 2004. The group meets weekly to collaborate on multi-media works, which include drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and site–specific drawing installations.

Presentation at Pix Film Productions, Toronto, Canada.
